Birthdays are over and I am astonished at how quickly my children have grown and how much they have developed.
Jaden
Height: 3ft.
Weight: 27lb. 4oz.
The fabulous thing about Jaden's weight is that for the first time he is on the chart in the 25%. He was always below the chart as a baby but it turns out the boy is well proportioned. Just little. :)
Jaden has come leaps and bounds since he turned 2. At 2 he wasn't speaking much. He seemed to make up his own words for things and at one point we even wondered if perhaps he would need speech therapy, but our concerns were needless. Jaden can not only speak most words perfectly but he can also make up stories and tell them without any trouble. He's quite the yacker actually. He is also completely potty trained and has even started peeing standing up much to my displeasure, the bathroom will never be the same. :)
Jaden started pre-school in September. Having just turned 3 he's a bit young but he's super smart and catches on real quick to things. He loves numbers and can easily recognize 1 - 10 and can count to 20 almost perfectly. He sings the alphabet song and can identify most letters upper and lower case as well. We are surprised by the fact that he still has a bit of trouble with certain colors. We wonder if perhaps he is colorblind, but as of yet are unsure. He can draw circles and triangles and squares, but mostly scribbles still when coloring.
Jaden has had a lot of fun with his cousin Alex and now with his pre-school friend Russell. Jaden has never been shy and continues to be outgoing and friendly to anyone and everyone he meets.
He loves to sing songs he learns in nursery, preschool, or ones that I sing around the house. I always smile when the boy sings. He's also getting better at praying and will expound on his prayers praying for or thanking heavenly father for (we're not exactly sure which) preschool and grandma's house and things like that.
Favorites
(I asked Jaden)
Color: He says Green, but if you ever ask him which one he wants (like crayon, or paper, or candy) he usually says yellow.
Food: Chicken nuggets! He also likes mac n cheese and hot dogs.
Toy: Pumpkin! His new pumpkin trick or treat bucket. If you'd asked me I'd say his favorite is probably his trains and his Lightening McQueen car.
Phrase: (I didn't ask him this but I can tell you) "Watch this" Usually followed by him making a silly face or noise our somersault or something silly.
Jaden has such a contagious excitement for everything that he is a joy to be around. He is constantly making me laugh and often irritating me as toddlers tend to do. But he has a pretty mild temperament and gets over tantrums pretty quickly. He's a very handsome boy and I love him so much every second.
Bella
Length: 2 ft. 3 in.
Weight: 17lb. 11 oz.
Bella is growing out of her infant looks and has that toddler face coming. After wondering what he hair color is going to be it appears she's going to stick with strawberry blond. She's at an adventurous age and will climb everything and anything. She crawls as fast as Jaden can walk and can easily stand straight up without holding anything we expect her to walk anytime now but she tends to curl her toes under when standing, making it difficult to take a step.
Bella loves to sing and will of mimic any song she hears and can even remember a tune and sing it the next few days without prompting. She will also mimic sounds and of course movements. Jaden and Bella will make funny growling or spitting sounds back and forth for 5 minutes easy! She will clap along or pat her legs or bang the table or her tray to mimic anything like that that we are doing. She especially loves to play peek a boo with her being in charge of putting the blanket over her face. She also loves it when I play wii fit and will clap along with my mii character. She adores patty cake and can do all the motions herself.
Bella babbles constantly! Sometimes we can pick out a few words. Her first words were "Uh Oh" same as Jaden's. She can also say "ma ma", "da da", "dat" (that), "pitty"(pretty), and a few others I can't think of at the moment. Her favorite word by far is "Hi" and she will say it to anyone unless you are actually trying to get her to say it. She will also wave bye bye.
Bella is much more sensitive than Jaden ever was. She whines quite a bit and often wants to be held. This wouldn't be so bad but she wiggles and squirms so much no one can stand to hold her more than a few minutes. Church is like a wrestling match and I often end up in the mothers lounge listening the the speakers while she roams the room or plays with anyone else that happens to be in there.
She's super ticklish and loves to be tickled. If you tickle her feet she'll giggle pull them away then put them back up so you can tickle them some more. Speaking of feet, I cannot keep shoes or socks on the girl for the life of me. I've tried all kinds but she always pulls them off. Often she'll even pull her pants off. The girl loves to be free.
She's gotten really good at climbing the stairs. I can even send Jaden behind her to catch her if she wavers in her upward attempt. Which he does diligently knowing his sister's safety is in his hands. What a good big brother. She loves it and giggles the whole way up. We're working on going down and she's starting to get that too, but she's only allowed to try that one with mommy helping so far.
Speaking of big brother. She adores him and loves to play with him, driving him nuts of course. Sometimes they will find a game they both like and will laugh and laugh together. Despite having a doll now and a few other toys of her very own, she still loves to push cars around. Her favorite though is to play in the toy kitchen opening the cupboards and "eating" the toy food.
When she gets to eat real food she eats and eats. At least 3 times as much as her picky brother. We usually say she's done before she does. Her favorite is probably bread, but she is far from picky. The only thing we've found she doesn't like much is cheerios, but she'll even eat those if they are the only thing around.
I love dressing her up and putting flowers on her head. She's such a pretty little thing and I must say I am enjoying the opportunity while I get the chance knowing full well when she gets the choice I will no longer get to dress her in pretty dresses and do her hair up cute. As it is she already takes off anything on her head. bummer.
She shows a bit of fear when passed on to someone she doesn't know well, but adores her grandparents and has them wrapped around her little finger. For now she is a Daddy's girl and prefers his attention to mine. Wanting him to get her up in the morning and to hold her when he comes home from work. I'm okay with that. :) She even cries if he comes home from work and doesn't immediately come down to say hi.
I love my baby girl so much. She too can always make me laugh and smile with her inquisitive nature.
