Ball?

Ryan loves to imitate mommy by putting a ball under his shirt, this of course has Jaden all kinds of confused and he is always pointing at my belly saying "ball?" Yesterday he decided he wanted to look like mommy too and with Daddy's help stuck a ball up his shirt. Pretty good imitation don't you think? Though he may be pretty disappointed when in 3 months he gets a new baby sister instead of a big new ball.

Dinosaur Park

Ryan's parents came down this last weekend and we all went to the Dinosaur Park in Ogden. It was really neat and full of fun stuff for Jaden too. Click on the pics to see better.

Ahhh Ryan is feeding Jaden to dinosaur. . . and Jaden likes it *shrug*

Can we keep him?
Jaden's all time favorite thing was this picture op place. He had so much fun going behind and popping his head through. It was such a fun game of peek-a-boo.

"Most Dangerous Creature" boy you're tellin' me!!!

Jaden loved helping daddy uncover dinosaur bones in the sand.

Ryan and his parents also went the the temple openhouse. I was pooped at that point and stayed home so no pics of that. We sure had a fun weekend though. Always fun to have Grandma and Grandpa here!

Gestational diabetes

So if you've been pregnant in the last 10 years or so or are very close to someone who has been, you may be familiar with the glucose test taken around the 6 month mark. Nothing extraordinary, you drink a sugary drink they give you and in an hour test your blood sugar. I thought little of this as I passed this test with flying colors my first pregnancy. This time I failed.

Still not concerned, assuming it was something I ate, I went in the next week for the 3 hour test. This is horribly tedious as you have to sit in the office and wait an hour after each time being poked. Plus you can't eat anything before nor during the test. If you've been pregnant you know how awful that makes you feel. I took my laptop in and played crappy games while I waited. I passed the first two times they took my blood, the third time I was right at the cutoff, but the forth I was 8 points high. No arguing with the results. Feeling very sick and frightened I left the doctors office. I got a call that night to come to the gestational diabetes class the next day at the hospital. The nurse assured me I needed this class right away. So in I went.

The class eased my fears quite a bit. I havn't known anyone that has had gestational diabetes and didn't know what to expect. I didn't know if my eating/exercise habits had caused this danger to my baby nor did I know what I'd be able to eat. At the 3 hour class I learned that nothing I could have done could have prevented this from happening. It is caused by genetics and hormones. Because of the different hormones I did not get it before and I may not get it with my next pregnancy.

My diet is carb counting diet. I am sad to give up the milkshakes and my Little Debbie snacks, but most things I can still eat. The recommended portion size is pretty much what I eat anyway so I'm not eating less food, just have to tweek a few of my meal choices. I am not to lose weight, after all I am pregnant. So I also have to take a urine test every morning to check my ketones. Ketones is a waste product produced when burning fat. Normally a good thing and just go out with the rest of the waste, but when pregnant the ketones get passed the baby which also is not good. I do have to test my blook 4 times a day. This is probably the most difficult part being how terrified I am of needles. I still have to close my eyes to do it. I also have to walk for 30 min. a day. Jaden and I go right at breakfast at about 7:30 in the morning before it gets too hot. Even so, I'm exhausted when I return home. I'm not normally such a wanny, but being pregnant really depleats my energy supply. The last thing I have to do is check for baby kicks. This is something your generally suppose to be doing anyway, but now I have to write it down. This means I pick a time of day when Bella is most active, I chose about 10 min. after dinner, then I lay on my left side and count kicks and movements until I get to 10. She needs to kick 10 in an hour. . . yeah we usually get 10 in about 3-7 minutes. So we're good there!

All in all it's really not that big of a deal. There are many health concerns for baby if this condition is unchecked, but gestational diabetes does not even occur till the third trimester and Bella has not experienced any setbacks because of it since we tested when we did. Nothing motivates you to stick to a diet like the health of your baby, so you don't have to worry there. I WILL do all the stuff I have been instructed to do. We continue to pray that Bella will continue to develop properly without issues and if you'd like to pray for Bella too I'm sure she'd appreciate it.

New Toy Box

We have become more and more aware that Jaden needed a new place to keep all his toys after he destroyed his toy basket. We thought we'd get something a little bigger and toddler resistant. So we ordered this great big little tykes toy box.
So far Jaden has decided that it is fun to play inside the toybox with his car.
Bonus! 2 toys in 1! This big box it came in made the perfect fort for Daddy and Jaden. Though Daddy was a bit cramped in there.

First Crop

Some how our apricot tree blossoms managed to survive the constant storms that batterened them. Our little tree produced 7 beautiful apricots. Only 2 of which had worm holes. A little protein with your fruit?

More Swimming

Sadly Yesterday was our last day of swim lessons. Jaden has made some super improvements but is still very nervous and must have an arm wrapped around mommy at all times! Tuesday Grandma was there to watch and he seemed to want to show off. He paddled and kicked and went underwater! Yay! It was really fun doing this with Jessica and Brooklyn. I've had lots of fun doing this too. I hope Jaden learns to love the water like I always have.

Reunion again

Last weekend we went to Blackfoot again! I know two weeks in a row wow! We had our Ransom reunion. I got to see some cousins I haven't seen for awhile and a whole bunch that of course I didn't even know. It was great fun! I didn't take many pictures. It was hot and muggy and this pregnant woman wasn't really feeling her best.

I went to watch the auction while Ryan watched Jaden. When I came out to check on them Ryan was letting Jaden play in the mud. How typical dad of him. But he was happy and having fun so no use complaning at that point. All I could do was get out the camera and take advantage.

Hee, I've been taking a photo editing class and having much fun with it. Can you tell?

During our Reunion at Jensen's Grove a huge group of Aztec Indians from all over the west came and performed some dancing. I know this picture isn't vey good, but it was really neat.

We had a blast in Idaho as we usually do. I'm afraid we won't be going back for awhile now, I guess everybody will just have to come here to see us!

4th of July weekend

We went to Idaho for the 4th of July weekend. Ryan's family had a family reunion/campout in their orchard on the 3rd. All of his family was there except Debbie. It was a lot of fun!
Jaden enjoyed Chillaxin in the camp chairs with cousins Ben and Anha. I enjoyed not having to chase him around all over!
Jaden found the fire absolutely fascinating. He would tell us "hot" and never get any closer than that but he watched all the other kids throw sticks (and anything else they could get a hold of) into the fire.
Jaden also liked it when we had smores. When no one was looking he grabbed the bag of marshmellows shoved one in his mouth, grabbed two handfuls, and ran away before we could take them away. Mmmm marshmellows.
We didn't camp out (too many bathroom trips for me) but we sure enjoyed the camping atmosphere and spending time with Ryan's family.

4th of July evening we were back over at Ryan's parents to set off fireworks!
At first Jaden was a little nervous, but he liked having Daddy hold him while lit the fireworks. Always has to be part of the action. His favorite was the water dynamite. Ryan would lite them and throw them in the canal. They'd make a muted "pop" sound and Jaden would instantly imitate it with a smile.

When the serious fireworks came out Jaden loved pointing them out in the sky. With and apropriate "ooo" or "woah"

For some reason blogger insists that the videos be at the bottom. So here's Jaden playing air hockey with the elders.

Hope you all had a great Independance Day! We did!

Swim Class

Jaden and I managed to get in a mommy and me swim class this summer! Yay! Jessica and Brooklyn are also in the same class. We're learning how to blow bubbles underwater, paddle, kick, and float on our back! Jaden hasn't been real thrilled thus far. He clings so tightly that I can't get him to do most of the things he's suppose to. He does love to jump off the side of the pool into my arms, and he really likes it when he gets to play with the little duckies.

I stole these pictures from Jessica's blog. Thanks Jess!

Getting Uncle Jeremy all wet right before he has to go to work. Hee!
