Easter Egg dying! I was of course at Comic Con so Ryan took care of helping the kids dye eggs.
Kids made a pretty good haul in their Easter baskets.
The cute little pony necklaces I brought back from Comic Con for the girls and a leggo minecraft zombie for Jaden and a Link stuffed toy for Lincoln. They enjoyed playing with them along with their Easter stuff.
egg hunt time at Grandma and Grandpa Yancey's
Olivia happily searching for eggs
Olivia once we told her she found all her eggs and couldn't find any more. LOL
Lincoln wasn't sure what this was all about, but he had fun wandering around anyway
Forgot to bring Lincoln's sippy cup. It's all good mom. I've got this!
Started out day 2 with the Alex Kingston panel. She had some neat things to talk about from Doctor Who and E.R. She was fun to listen to.
Me and my Mom also saw Alex up close on our way to our next panel. She was riding in the golf cart and went right in front of us!
Me and Mom went to Richard Paul Eveans panel. It was fun. He gave us a heads up on what the cover for the 5th Michael Vey book will look like and he read a couple passages from it. Then he had a bunch of kids come up and they had a Michael Vey trivia game. Complete with buzzers and everything. They had the Elgen team and the Electroclan team. It was fun!
Jason Isaacs was a hoot to listen to. He chose not to have a moderator or a seat for that matter and walked around stage while he talked. He told how excited he was to be in Harry Potter and to be a wizard. He went into the costume department for his first look and they were going to have him in a business suit and have his hair as it was. He said but but I'm a wizard and hate muggles. He said he pulled a cheap blonde wig down and wrapped himself in a velvet curtain and went to check with a producer. And that's how Lucius Malfoy got his look. He also talked about his first day of shooting was in Dumbledor's office and how when he got dismissed he felt like Lucius would want the last word so he add libbed "Let us hope that Mr. Potter will always be around to save the day." Daniel was following right along with "Don't worry. I will be." And Jason said he knew this was going to be good.
Jason Isaacs also created Lucius voice, he said he wanted to sound like a bully and coward at the same time cause that's what he is the director wasn't sure but Daniel said it was cool so the let Jason keep the voice. He also did a few more improv acting that made the special effects team take note for where to have Dobby. Such as kicking him down the stairs. I had no idea the actor could have so much say in their character. I love that he did. He did a fabulous job and was simply fun to listen to.
I love Brandon Sanderson's writing. What an amazing author. I love listening and learning about their process and how they got where they are.
Brandon started off by reading from his newest book that is coming out (he promised no spoilers :) ) Then answered questions. He said he got into fantasy from playing Dungeons and Dragons and playing video games. When he talked about his schedule he still leaves about 2 hours to play video games. I love that these fantasy authors are really very much like the rest of us geeks. :)
Some scary dudes from 5 nights at Freddie's my kids have not played this game as it is pretty darn scary but there are some Minecraft animated music videos of the characters so I knew they'd appreciate this.
A little Star Wars Action
Look I'm a very small action figure in a very big box.
And I could resist another peek inside the Tardis.
So at lunch we sat down by a nice gentleman and just talked about this and that amongst ourselves. He once mentioned that he would be right back and if we could watch his place for him. Later my mom walked by a book booth and realized it was this guy.
I've heard of his books and now I'm thinking I should probably read them. :) My mom bought two of his books there at his booth. LOL. In case you were wondering how I get to so many panels at Comic Con, I just use my time turner, or my tardis, I know it looks small, but it's bigger on the inside . I love the pin too. That one was free.
Seriously some of the costumes here are just amazing!!
Cory was instructed to get as many princess pictures as he could for Sianne is to be daughter. For an engaged guy he sure took a lot of pictures with pretty girls. :)
So they have this thing called Twisted Toonz where they get these well known voice actors to come and read. This year it was from the new Star Wars, in the past it has been from Harry Potter. The Moderator gives them their character and what voice they will read in. It gets pretty darn funny. I haven't seen the new Star Wars yet so I don't think I followed as well as I would have, but it was still hilarious. I've got video down below. Close your eyes and see if you can recognize the characters. :)
During one of the scenes Jason Isaacs came in and they let him sit in on one of the scenes. It was funny to hear Sponge Bob say "Lucius Malfoy borrowed my pen." I think Jason did the voice of Patrick Stewart if I remember right. That was pretty funny too.
After this we headed for home. We stopped in Ogden for dinner and the guy behind the counter said "you must have just come from Comic Con." His coworker asked how he knew. "Well He's dressed like Doctor Who and she's wearing a time turner." Yup I liked him already.
I had so much fun. Thanks again Cory and my Mom and Dad for letting me tag along. I geek out so much it's probably entertaining all in itself. Good times! Hope I can go again next year.
