For my birthday Cory bought me a two day ticket to the Salt Lake spring Comic Con aka FanX! I went down with my Dad and Cory. Yay!
My adventures started before we even made it to the convention center. Cory had to make a stop at Primary Children's Hospital to change out some body hardware. As soon as we got there we took a quick potty break. I got in the stall and when I was ready to come out the lock just turned and turned, but wouldn't unlock. I tried all I could but soon realized I was stuck. Glad that I'm not a large person, I slid under the door. I thought I was alone in the restroom but realized there was someone in the last stall. wondering about the possibility of her NOT noticing this incident, I quickly washed my hands and left. Not far I waited in the hall for Cory. THEN, the lady walks out of the bathroom and up to me. "I don't mean to embarrass you, but I work with maintenance & security. Was you stall door stuck."
So nothing like starting out my adventure being embarrassed. :)
When we made it to the Salt Palace we were in time for the last half of Gillian Anderson's panel. She sounds just like her x-files character. At the end of her panel she auctioned off the shirt she was wearing to help fund schooling for girls in some country to prevent child trafficking. The auction in itself was pretty amusing, and she sold the shirt for $1000

It's a Lego Doctor Who! I thought this was just something set up there, but nope, it's actually a person in there!
Summer Glau
She plays such a Kick A girl on all her shows, but was actually a little shy to talk about herself. She was super sweet. My favorite part of this panel was when her husband and baby snuck up from backstage and sat two chairs down from me. Her baby kept pointing at the screen saying "ma ma" He actually had to take him backstage again so he wouldn't distract the audience. It was adorable.
Alan Tudyk
So Alan has done a bunch of random stuff and is just hilarious to listen to, just in case that's not enough he brings what he called his "bag of shi...sfgmn" full of stuff that he signs and gives to the people who ask questions. Real cool stuff like a napkin, or receipt, or contact solution. It was so funny. He pulled something part way out and said "oh this may be good, it's an action figure from the Firefly Series. . . box. . . the action figure's not there, some call it garbage." he signs it. "There ya go!" I can just imagine him popping random stuff in his bag giggling to himself thinking how funny it will be to give it out at Comic Cons.

These are villagers from Minecraft. figured my kids would like them. Sure enough it's the first thing they mentioned when I talked to them on the phone that night. :)

Christopher Paolini was fun to listen to as well. Having written Eragon so young I was curious as to how he did it. He said since he graduated at 15 he had a lot of time on his hands so one day he decided to write a story about dragons with the lead character a 15 yr. old boy named Kevin. He said he started a few times and realized he didn't know how to write a novel. So he spent the next 6 months or so reading up on how to write. He said he technically wrote Eragon 3 times to get it how it is and he and his family worked hard to get it out there to local bookshops and schools as it was not picked up by a publisher till later. It's kinda good to know how much hard work was put into it. A very impressive man.

For book club this coming Tuesday we are reading the Michael Vey series so I thought it pretty cool that the author Richard Paul Evans was there at Comic Con. While cruising the vendors we happened by his table, and lucky enough there was no line! He was happy to sign and give me a poster and even this picture. Yay! shortly after the lady with him, (I don't know if it was his wife or assistant ) came up to us and asked about Cory. She said she has a young grandson with something that I can't pronounce, and was different than what Cory has but it has made it so he is in a wheelchair. She told Cory he was such a good looking young man. :)
Dean Cain always comes to mind when I think of Superman. I watched a lot of Lois & Clark when I was younger.
He walked right by me. I wish I had my camera on video. Doh. Anyhow he was fun to listen to. He talked about his role on Supergirl a bit and was asked why he thinks he's so Right wing and conservative when most L.A. actors are anything but. He mentioned how he grew up with Charlie Sheen and others and the difference is that though he grew up in the tv industry he went to college. Princeton actually and graduated. I think that's funny. He looked so great still!

This was so funny! Rosalina is Ryan's favorite princess. He plays her for Mario Cart, Smash Brothers, and Mario 3D world. So when I recognized Rosalina from behind I had to get a picture! So I went up and when she turned around I realized it was a guy. Totally caught me by surprise and my hesitation was awkward, then I thought, oh this is even better! Ha! He was a great sport and a very pretty Rosalina. When I showed Ryan the picture he couldn't tell. Well I told him it was a guy we got a pretty good laugh out of it.

As we waited there were weeping angels on stage. One would occasionally move, Ooooo.
Sylvester, the 7th doctor was hilarious. He's from Scotland and kept saying the Daleks would be so much scarier with a Scottish accent. He was hoot.
Alex's ears were a little disconcerting. They would move on their own. :) They had such fun stories that they shared with us and the whole thing was so funny.
