dare devil car ride

Jaden has become quite the little dare devil. He loves to climb up on anything and everything. His toy car included. He thought he was big stuff standing up on his car, but when daddy started driving him around that way he thought it was hilarious! Don't worry no Jadens were hurt during the making of this film or anytime playing like this on his car. he does however occasionally get hurt running and tripping on his own feet, but there's not much I can do about that. . . anyhow, don't be afraid, just enjoy.

Ball Popper?

I'm slightly embarrassed to say that Jaden learned this neat trick from his father.

18 Months

So I know it's been forever since I last posted. I can't believe March is almost over! It has zoomed by more or less uneventfully.

On thing of not though is that my little Jaden is not so little anymore. At 1 and a half he is a full fledged toddler, though there is nothing toddeling about him. He runs forward and backward, can climb anything, jumps, and turns in circles.

Here's his 18 month stats:
wt: 19lbs 10 oz (less than 5%)
ht: 31.5 inches (25%)
head: 47.5 cm (45%)
So I have a skinny boy with a big head. LOL well that fits. The doc is not pleased at all with his weight and we've scheduled an extra growth checkup at 21 months. I'm not concerned at all. He eats and runs off every calerie. Not much can be done about that. Besides, when I have to carry him around I swear he weighs more like 40 lbs!

He says several words now. Some of his new favorites include:
shees (cheese)
Ba (bath) also similar to ball and book and bear kinda just have to hear it in context.
Dada (daddy & doggy) I'm not sure why he calls doggys dada but he does.
I wid i (I did it) This usually follows with him clapping and cheering for himself.

Some of his favorite foods right now include:
Pineapple
cereal in yogert
ketchup (anything in ketchup or ketchup by itself works too)
Sausage
Hotdogs
Mac n cheese
Chocolate milk

He is proficiant at using both a spoon and a fork and prefers to do so.
He loves singing, dancing, turning in circles, driving his car, bouncing balls into the sink, tickeling, feeding his big bear snack, driving his toy cars on the bottom side of the rug (yes he flips it up to do so), and rough houseing with daddy. He also must take his blanky EVERYWHERE!

Here's a few pictures of my busy boy. He's very difficult to take pictures of right now.

Jaden with his bear. He loves carrying him around, giving him kisses and feeding him snack.

Jaden and I spent the 5th with my mom, dad, Cory, Jeremy, Jessica, & Brooklyn. Jeremy let them play on the Jazz floor. Jaden and Brooklyn loved the Giant play area! Jaden thought it was especially fun to slide backwards on his belly on the smooth court. If you'd like to see more pictures from that day check out Jeremy & Jessica's blog and my Parents blog. I had not taken my camera. This picture was taken by my dad. Thanks dad! It's super cute!

Valentine's Day

Our Valentine's wasn't terribly eventful, though we switched things up a bit. Usually I make Ryan a nice dinner and a cherry pie for valentine's but this year since it was a Saturday and he was home all day he wanted to spend the day with me and take me out to a nice stake dinner. Super! So that morning he went took Jaden and went to the store and the library. While he did this I made Ryan's cherry pie. Mmmm.

When they got back he had two movies from the library. Hancock and Indiana Jones. Nothing says love like a good action movie! He also got me some red tulips and a box of chocolates. After lunch we watched Hancock then we all got a nap. So nice!

We got ready and went to the restraunt getting there at 5:30 we were thinking we would be the rush. Wrong! There was a long line OUTSIDE the restraunt! No way we were waiting outside for an our with Jaden! Brrr!

So we went around looking for a stake place. No luck. They all had lines clear out front. We went to Jordan Landing looking for ANYTHING. Famous Daves had no line outside. YAY! We went in and actually the wait was only about 15 min.

The place was packed! We were back in one of the party rooms. The waitress brought Jaden some crackers while we waited (how sweet) when he lost interest in those Ryan and I blew a straw wrapper back and forth across the wrapper. Jaden laughed so loud he was drawing a bit of attention. the girl bussing tables had to pause and watch for a minute to see what was so funny. I suppose him being distracting by laughing is better than by crying!

The food was sooo good. I suppose if you can't have stake BBQ ribs is the next best thing. Jaden had som mac and cheese that he loved!

We then went over to circuit city to check out they're going out of business sale. The place looked stripped! Ryan looked at the games while Jaden said "hi" to anyone that passed by. Finally Ryan picked one out and we made our way to check out. Doh! The line was super long cause there was only one cashier (can't really blame them why pay more employees when your going out of business?) Ryan decided he didn't want to wait cause Jaden was getting cranky (past his bedtime) so he put the game back and we left.

We put Jaden to bed and watched Indiana Jones! Yay! Good Valentine's Day! Hope yours was good too.

Ticklish

Jaden sure is ticklish! He loves being tickled! If you tickle his foot he'll keep lifting it up to be tickled some more. Such a silly boy.

Weeee I mean Wii

Jaden is really getting the hang of this wii remote. . . sorta.

Hyper

Jaden is cutting in some more molars and has been horribly cranky. I finally gave him some tylonal and this was the result. The kid was crazy hyper! Literally bouncing off the walls He was cranky again 10 minutes later but at least he felt good for awhile. The next morning he decided to try out his new moves somemore but to music! He's quite the dancer. . . Ryan was suppose to cut me out of the video, so don't look at me k?

Oh and this one is pretty long so you may want to save it till your bored and have plenty of time on your hands. ;0)

I can feed myself!

Not terribly exciting, but I wanted you to see that Jaden is getting quite good at feeding himself. And oh look he's a lefty!!! Well for now at least. Only because that right thumb must be available at all times.

A very productive day!

This last Saturday we got on the computer/tv to watch cartoons like we usually do only to find that our tv tuner had shorted out. All the static electricity finally did it in! We knew it was bound to happen eventually but didn't know what to do about it.

Anyway so Ryan says "I guess we'll have to be productive then." So we went to work on the piling list of "to do's"

First we cleaned out our bedroom and rearranged it so we could put the plant stand in there in front of the window. The arrangement of the funature is less efficient by man am I glad to get those plants of my table! (see previous post).

We then cleaned the whole house so it was no longer a disaster zone and moved into Jaden's room hoping to toddler proof it a bit more, after realizing there was no way to keep him out of the changing stuff, the sock drawer, his shoes, the extra diaper, & the garbage can, we finally gave up and just cleaned it instead. So he'll still have to wait for full access to his bedroom.

After everything was cleaned we took a trip to Home Depot and bought some paint! Yay! Finally we were getting to the only room in our house that we had not yet painted. The bathroom! The reason we didn't paint it when we did all the others was we were not sure if we were going to switch out that vanity in there or not, but we finally decided we would leave it. We put the gate up in front of the bathroom so Jaden could watch and we spent the rest of the day taping and painting then taping and painting again. We painted it a pale yellow, thought not as pale as I originally wanted (I suck at picking out paint!!!) It turned out okay thought and the bathroom looks so much cleaner! It did have a tan color, but that wasn't bad, the bad part was that it was done all by a brush and the previous white paint was showing through all over, in some places the previous previous blue paint was showing through! Our bathroom is now bright and cheery!

Then. . .I know more? Friday we had gotten our taxes done at H&R Block. Ryan and I had agreed we would buy a new computer with our return so Saturday night he pieced together a new computer. Yay! Including a new TV tuner. Parts will be arriving tomorrow and Wednesday!

Amazing what we can accomplish in a day together when we don't watch tv!

A Bad Day

This actually happened a couple weeks ago and I wasn't going to share out of my own embarrassment, but to fully appreciate my next post you may have to know, so here's a bad day.

Jaden has been given a bit more freedom around the house. He has nearly full access to the kitchen as well as living room and if I'm doing laundry all the other rooms as well. He can zip up and down the stairs now with ease so when I go down to play Wii he comes with me and enjoys the change in scenery.

Anyway this particular day in the morning I was here at the computer as I often am in the morning and Jaden was in the kitchen. Somehow he got a hold of a spoon and was digging in the plants in the kitchen (I never taught him to dig. Clearly digging is a natural reflex for boys). I thought it sounded a little too quiet so I went in and caught him in the act. I took his spoon and in a forceful voice said YOU KNOW YOU ARN'T ALLOWED TO PLAY OVER HERE! I moved him away from the plants then came back in the living room. Next thing I know he's carrying a plant into the living room. His arms wrapped tight around the plastic pot. JADEN NO!!! Well that just made him drop the plant and yup it spilled dirt all over. *sigh* I thought about putting him in time out, but after thinking like he was thinking *Momma said I can't play over there so I'll bring what I want to a place I know I'm allowed to play* So he didn't get in trouble.

I moved all the plants onto the table, knowing there was no way to keep him out of them after that. He then proceeded to destroy the plant stand while I vaccumed up the dirt in the living room.

A bit later he came in carying a metal wire butterfly plant pick. I must have left it too close to the edge of the table. Before I could get it away from him he tripped and scratched his head with it. Just a little scratch but he cried for a bit and then I put him to nap, thankign heavenly father he hadn't poked his eye out.

. . . . .

Time for a change in scenery. That afternoon we went down to play wii. He loves waving around the extra remote. Or climbing the couch and looking out the window which gives a much different view from the upstairs window! Anyway, he was playing with a canning jar he found in a box in the closet. He started putting stuff in and out of it so I let him play with it for a bit. After all he was playing nice and was right beside me. What could he do? YEah, you all see what's coming right?

Somehow he had smuggled down a cross bar from the metal plant stand. WHACK yup that's all it took. Put a big hole right through the jar. As I went to pick it up the whole top half came apart from the bottom. Jaden looked on with curiosity. Not even a surprised cry. I quickly snag him up and take him upstairs blocking the stairs with the gate. Then got out the vaccume (again) undid the gate took it downstairs, took Jaden back upstairs (he always goes down if the gate isn't there.) And put up the gate again. I then gathered up all the glass pieces threw them away. Shook out any toys and blankets that were nearby then vaccumed it up. Running a hand through my hair and thinking *breathe Rachel. This is what mom's do. You've got it handled* Then I went back upstairs.

Sitting on the couch for a second. Jaden comes over and shows me his hand. the inside of his hand was all red. Yup. He had managed to get a glass sliver in the plam of his hand. I hadn't noticed cause he had it closed in a fist with his thumb in his mouth. I cleaned it off and put a band-aid on it. (still not so much as a whimper from him) I gathered his blanky and several toys that were smeared with blood and proceeded the tedious process of cleaning them. Then the carpet, the couches and everything else he had touched. While I was doing this He took his band-aid off (of course) and it was bleeding again. I gave him some paper towels to play with and followed him around keeping him from touching anything till he stopped bleeding.

By the way, he didn't get in trouble for breaking the jar either. After all that was my own dumb fault! Hence my embarrassment.

Anyway I decided to re-evaluate the toddler proofing of our house.
